cape Qazette CAPE LIFE FRIDAY. JANUARY 3- MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2014 51 Sussex County Habitat fc)r Humanity seeks homeowner applicants Sussex County Habitat for Humanity is seeking applicants for two special upcoming home building projects, one in the West Rehoboth community and another Veterans Build home in Georgetown, Habitat and the West Rehoboth Community Land Trust have partnered to es- tablish a shared project to create a permanently affordable home- ownership opportunity for a qualified low-income household to purchase a home on Norwood Street in West Rehoboth. Habitat is strongly recruiting in the West Rehoboth community for a quali- fied applicant. At the same time, Habitat announces the beginning of a second Veterans Build Project and home in Georgetown Point. Habitat dedicated its first Vet- erans Build home Sept. 11 as the culmination of a yearlong series of fundraising events, volunteer build days and cultivating donors to support the Veterans Build project. Mari Ellyn Hellard, a disabled U.S. Air Force veteran, and her two sons are the proud new homeowners. "Now it is time for us to once again build upon our great ex- periences last year and provide another simple, decent and af- fordable home to one of our local veterans," said Tom Protac:, community engagement direc- tor for Sussex Habitat. The first step for Habitat to begin the next Veterans Build is to seek qualified applicants and rally the community for support. All applicants must meet the following criteria: be able to pay a not-for-profit mortgage and demonstrate a need for afford- able housing and a willingness to partner with Habitat, which includes 250 volunteer hours (sweat equity) from each adult in the household. To learn more about the application process for these two upcoming projects or any other projects, contact the Family Services Department at 302-855=1153, Ext, 204, email FSC@sussexcountyhabitat.org or go to www.sussexcountyhabitat. org.
