Lyons, 82, of Lewes, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Fri- day, Dec. 28, 2012, at Cadbury at Lewes. She was born in County Cork, Ireland, Friday, May 16, 1930, daughter of the late Cor- nelius and Elizabeth (O'Brien) Carey. Mrs. Lyons and her husband retired to Lewes from Washing- ton, D.C. in 1984. She was a beautiful homemaker and the matri- arch of the family. She and her husband were ordained eucharistic Kathleen Lyons ministers for many years. She will be greatly missed by her large family and her many friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, ]ames F. Lyons; six children: Kevin Lyons (Kathy) of Catonsville, Md., Den- nis Lyons (Kathy) of Gaithers- burg, Md., Kathleen Shortley (Brian) of Chevy Chase, Md., Thomas Lyons of Potomac, Md., Mary Cahill of Georgetown and Eileen Hardy (Kenneth) of Harbeson; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Nora Leahy of Essex, England; and many nieces and nephews. She was recently preceded in death by her son-in-law George Cahill in 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a:m., Friday, Jan. 4, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edmond Catholic Church at the above address and Delaware Hospice. Alice D. Bennett, family matriarch Alice D. Bennett, 80, of Georgetown passed away Satur- day, Dec. 29, 2012, at Beebe Med- ical Center in Lewes. Born on June 2,1932, near Elk- ton, Md., she was the daughter of the late Charles Elmer Dean Sr. and Edna T. Green Dean. She re- tired after more than 25 years of service from the Stockley Center in Georgetown. She was a wonderful woman who loved her family. She loved spoiling children, and was the matriarch of the family. She loved sewing, "word find" puz- zles, and feeding the birds, espe- cially her favorite humming- birds. She loved people, was always happy, and loved to be around people. She was helpful in any way she could. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Gordy, who passed in 1982. She also was preceded by five broth- ers and two sisters. She is sur- vived by her siblings: Rosalie Hignutt of Georgetown, Barbara Hooper of Hebron, Md., Irene Venable and husband David of Greenwood, Charles Elmer Dean Jr. and wife Rosemary of Seaford, Roland Dean Sr. and his wife Dorothy of Bridgeville, and Ray- mond Dean and wife Judy, of Farmington. She is also survived by an "adopted" daughter, best friend, and constant companion, Doris Veasey and her husband Ralph of Georgetown. Alice also leaves her "adopted" grandchildren: Scott Veasey, Mark Veasey, Jo- hanna Hastings and Kelly Cohee, along with six "adopted" great- grandchildren; and a host of oth- er friends and extended family around the area. A viewing was held Wednes- day, Jan. 2, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro. On Thursday, Jan. 3, a funeral service was held. Pastor Steve Uhthoff of the Georgetown Wesleyan Church officiated. Interment followed at the St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood. Contributions are suggested to the American Legion Post 8 Am- bulance Service; 406 N. Front St., Georgetown, DE 19947. Evelyn 'Betty' Warren, dedicated to family Evelyn Elizabeth "Betty" War- ren, 87, of Millboro passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Mil- ford. Born April 29, 1925, in Salis- bury, Md., she was the daughter of the late Francis and Carolyn Davis Donaway. She was a gradu- ate of Millsboro High School and she attended of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro. She married her late husband, Ralph in 1962. Together with her role as a homemaker, they spent 42 wonderful years together, and he preceded her in 2004. She loved gardening and sewing, and she was dedicated to her family. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded by her brother: Morton Don- away; and her sister: Ruth Don- away. She is survived by her daugh- ters: Tina McIntosh and husband John of Gaithersburg, Md., and Tara Eggers and husband John of Eldersburg, Md.; and one grand- child: Jake Eggers. A viewing and calling hours for visitation was held Thursday, ]an. 3, at Watson Funeral Home; 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. On Friday, Jan. 4, a funeral serv- ice will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Robert Hudson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service for visita- tion. Interment follows at Mills- boro Cemetery. Floral tributes are welcomed, or in lieu of flowers, the family suggests c6ntributions to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Elaine 'Lena' Insley, trained candystripers Elaine "Lena" Helen Insley, 94, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26; 2012, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach, with her loving daughter by her side.
