The incoming di- rectors of the association were named during the organization's annual banquet Dec. 14. Taking the helm of Sussex County's real estate trade associ- ation is Bob McVey, a Realtor with Mann & Sons Real Estate in Rehoboth Beach. A career U.S. Coast Guard man and 1980 Cape Henlopen High School graduate, McVey retired from serving his country and became a Realtor in 1994. He is now the broker at his coastal Del.aware real estate agency. He takes over the leadership position in SCAOR from Trina Joyner, a western Sussex County Realtor who saw the orgtion through a year that featured con- tinued and sustained growth in southern Delaware's real estate markets. Sales were up significantly in each of the first three quarters of 2012 from the year prior, and they are expected to be up in the fourth quarter as well when data is released by SCAOR in the next few weeks. "It's been my honor to serve this fme organization as its presi- dent for the last 12 months. It's been a learning experience for me, as well as something that I've taken a great deal of pride in," says ]oyner. "I've been fortunate to be in a leadership position dur- ing a time when the real estate market was continuing a period of growth, recovering from the recession of a few years ago. I've treasured my time in this role, but I'm also honored to be handing the gavel over to Bob, who I know will also do a t'me job in 2013." This is Trinity's first inclusion in the Top 25 list since the firm r changed its name in January from Trinity Transport to Trini- ty Logistics in order to reflect its true position in the marketplace as a full-service logistics solu- tions provider rather than sim- ply a truckload brokerage. The responsibilities and objec- tives of SCAOR's board of direc- tors are manifold and focus on successfully promoting real es- tate and home ownership in Delaware's southernmost count. But members of the board are al- so expected to promote and maintain high standards of con- duct in the real estate profession, safeguard and advance the inter- ests of those involved in the real estate profession and unite those engaged in real estate on local, state and national levels, among other duties. The Sussex County Associa- tion of Realtors was chartered in 1949 and is a professional trade association with goals of carrying out a program of education and advocacy for real estate in the county.
