Amateur radio license class Jan. 12 and 13 The Sussex County Amateur Radio Emergency Service will offer a technician amateur radio license class Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12 and 13, at the Bethany Beach Fire Department on Route 1 in Bethany Beach. The class is open to the public interested in obtaining an ama- teur radio ("ham") license. Attendees must purchase a study guide prior to the class. The classes will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 8:30 am. to noon on Sunday, ending with administration of the FCC amateur radio license exam. No fee is charged although there is a suggested donation of $20 to cover expenses. This is a great way to get into the exciting hobby of amateur radio by reading a study guide in advance and spending a weekend with ex- pert instruction including the FCC exam.
