18 o CAPE GAZETFE, Friday, January 10 - January 16, 1997 /Ule kkn Sussex Family YMCA open house draws enthusiastic crowd The Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach held an open house Jan. 4 to let the public learn first hand of the spacious state-of-the-art facilities and variety of programs and activi- ties offered for young and old alike. Above, Celia Givens (left), Y executive director, is seen with a few of the winners in the drawings that were held that day. They include Or) Russ Payne, a free class of his choice; Lauri Kreis, a free week of child care or a summer camp weekend, who holds son Corey; Carol Jones, a free class of her choice, seen along with hus- band Lee. Other winners included Diane Ewart, a YMCA T-shirt; Melissa Theberge, a Y T- shirt; Lue-Ann deCastro, Y gift certificate; and Pat Hannon, a Y gift certificate. Other winners not shown were Alan Garey, Mary Johnson, Michelie Marshall, Richard Uniatowski, Vicki Rosenberg and Yvonne Colston. Payne, Kreis and Ewart&apos;s names were drawn from new mem- bers who signed up in December while the rest were open house attendees Below, Lisa Kniceley, massage therapist, works wonders on Faith Barter of Behoboth Beach, who attended the open house, while other women try box aerobics. Horses usually love the feed, but the wild horses were used to desert plants and had to become accustomed to the rich diet. "When we first brought them in, you could see the hip bones. They were poor." Now, the two horses share the four acres with a lively pair of farm cats and two fat steers. "We kind of became gentlemen farm- ers overnight," Marcha Groton said.
