Unitarian Universalists slates fast Jan. 18 The Unitarian Universalist Church of Southern Delaware is organizing a "Fast for a World Harvest," to raise awareness of the problem of hunger in the midst of plenty and to raise money for Oxfam America. Oxfam is an organization dedicated to creating lasting solutions to global hunger, poverty and injustice. This is an interfaith effort and other congregations and members of the public are welcome to attend. Sunday, Jan. 18, is a day of fasting or modified fasting to get in touch with the feeling of hunger, which can be done by not eating or drinking, drinking liquids only or reducing the amount one normally eats. Others may wish to skip a meal or give up something such as junk food or TV. At 4 p.m. the fast will be broken at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Ave., Milford, when a simple meal will be shared. Informational videos, fact sheets and a panel discussion about actions that may be taken locally will be available. Call 422-8187 for more information.
