Cape Gazette FAITH & SPIRITUALITY FRIDAY, JANUARY 18 - MONDAY, JANUARY 21, 2013 65 Religious Notes )) LCOS to host Discovering Recovery meetings Discovering Recovery (The New Oxford Group) will begin holding meetings at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior at 6:30 p.m., Friday, ]an. 18. These one-hour meetings are intended for recovering alco- holics and addicts, and will offer a spiritual approach to add to the quest for a deeper relationship with one's higher power. Meetings are nondenominational, and each group will discuss topics that the par- ticipants decide are important for their spiritual journey. Faith UMC hosting Usher Day Jan. 20 The Usher Board of Faith United Methodist Church extends an open invitation to its annual Usher Day, starting at 3.'30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, at Faith Belltown (the former ]ohn Wesley United Methodist Church) on Route 9, Lewes-Georgetown Highway near Five Points intersection, Lewes. The guest preacher will be Evangelist Teri Vann of Immanuel House of Praise, Seaford. Special music will be provided by the well- known Sussex Community Gospel Choir under the directorship of Brother Robert Brown. Dinner will be served immediately following the service. Faith UMC members look forward to having other congregations joins them as they celebrate the day. Beef and Dumpling dinner Jan. 19 at Zoar UMC The Zoar Men will be hosting a Roast Beef and Dumpling dinner beginning at 4 p.m., Saturday, lan. 19. The menu includes roast beef, dumplings, mashed potatoes, gravy, string beans and dessert, all for $12. Children under 12 will have a reduced cost. Zoar United Methodist Church is at the corner of Route 30 and Alternate 24 (Gravel Hill Road and Zoar Road) north of Millsboro. Zoar Men use proceeds from these semiannual dinners to support their mission projects. Recently they collected coats and other items to help those in Crisfield, Md., Who suffered losses from Superstorm Sandy. They also helped several local families at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Unitarian Universalists meet Jan. 20 The Unitarian Universalists of Southem Delaware will meet at 10 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 20, at 33739 Marsh Road in Lewes. The congregation will celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. by testing whether or not it can determine if his legacy of peace and equality continues. Has society changed in its sense of justice, or does it need to work even harder? The Rev. D. Michael Smith will examine where society has been and where it can, or must, go.
