I CLASSIFIED AD DEADLINE 12 NOON WEDNESDAY NOTICE OF ELECTION The City of Lewes will hold its Annual Municipal Election on Saturday, May 11, 2002 between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, at City Hall, East Third Sti'eet, Lewes, Delaware. Vacancies exist for one (1) Mayoral seat and two (2) Council seats, for two-year (2 yr.) terms each. Persons interested in becoming candidates for the election must file a letter with the City Manager indicating his/her desire to become a candidate or five (5) or more persons qualified to vote in the Annual Election may file the name of the candidate for the Office of Mayor or City Councilperson, provided that the candidate endorses his/her written consent thereon. Letters are to be filed no earlier than the opening of business of February 1, 2002 and prior to the close of business on April 4, 2002. Regular business hours are Monday thru Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CITY COUNCIL Qualifications for City Council at the time of the election are as follows: 1) A bona fide citizen of the United States and of the State of Delaware and a resident of the City of Lewes for at least ninety (90) days preceding the date of the annual election. 2) At least twenty-one (21) years of age. ELIGIBILITY TO VOTE Every person male or female, who shall have attained the age of eighteen (18) years on or before the date of the Annual Municipal Election and who shall be a citizen of the UNited States and a citizen of the City of Lewes, shall have one (1) vote provided he/she is registered on the Books of Registered Voters for the City of Lewes. The Books of Registered Voters for the City of Lewes are kept in the Office of the City Manager. No person shall be registered upon such books unless they have acquired qualifications stated hereinbefore. A person may register at the Office of the City Manager during the regular business hours of such office until the close of business on the fifteenth (15) day prior to the date of the Annual Municipal Election by completing the formprescribed by the City. This year, registration books will be open until 4:00 PMt Friday, April 26, 2002. THE CITY OF LEWES NOTICE The 2002 Annual Assessment List for the City of Lewes may be reviewed at the City Manager's Office located within City Hall, E. Third Street, Lewes, beginning January 15, 2002 thru January 25, 2002 during regular business hours of 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. Those property owners desiring to appeal their assessment(s) must do so by obtaining and completing a Property Value Appeal Form from the city Manager's Office during regular business hours.
