She thanked friends, family and her accounting professor at the University of Delaware, who flunked her three times but helped balance the books in her first years of business ownership. The Mae Hal -McCabe award is granted annually in honor of Real estate businesswoman Mae Hall McCabe, who founded the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce and was later elected its first woman president.
