HELD ITS 214TH Annual Banquet and Awards Evening Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Re- hoboth Beach Convention Center. Following the dinner the awards ceremony was presided over by President Craig Stephens. During the year of 2009 the Lewes Fire Department (LFD) responded to 589 alarms and 2,558 EMS calls. The department pre- sented the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company (RBVFC) with a framediphoto of its new Unit 86 ladder engine. Shown at the presentation are back row (I-r) RBVFC Deputy Chief Craig Farren, LFD !President Craig Stephens and RBVFC firefighter Dave McEwin. In front are RBVFC Fire Police Preston Dyer, RBVFC Secretary Danny Mitchell, RBVFC President Mike Simpler, RBVFC Fire Chief Don Don Mitchell, LFD Vice President Richard Bunting LFD Past Chief Henry Baynum Jr., LFD Fire Chief Wal- ly Evans, and RBVFC Assistant Chief Chuck Snyder. The City of Lewes presented its annual check to the LFD. Shown are (I-r) LFD Trea- surer Bryan Pepper, Lewes Mayor Jim Ford, and LFD President Craig Stephens. The future of the Lewes Fire Department, the junior firefighters, presented an appreciation award to Fire Captain Gerard Cassese for all of the training he provided for the junior firefighters, and junior Captain Aiden Gause received an award for outstanding junior member. Below, Lewes fire policeman Preston Dyer of Rehoboth Beach Fire Police was presented with a special award for assisting Lewes with alarms and events whenever needed.
