It is in an old home that Zaucha has used his design- ing eye to make ov@ into a store, and each showroom Will get a facelift every week, he said. "We're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so I can change the store to make new vignettes," he said. Zancha is an old hand at interi- or design shops. Before moving to the Cape Region, he owned seven stores in Baltimore, includ- ing an art gallery and dGcor stows. At one point, he had 17 employ- ees and a long list of influential clients all over the United States, including Lily Tomlin, Robin Williams, Rosie O'Donnell and even the creator and voice behind Sesame Street's "Elmo." He sold those businesses in 2001 when he was diagnosed with leukemia and bone marrow cancer and learned he had only a few months to live. Then, during a trip across America, he said a woman in a voodoo store in New Orleans cast a spell and gave him tea, say- ing it would ban the evil from his blood. He found himself feeling better in Dallas on Sept. 11, 2001. When he reached Las Vegas, a blood test showed he Was free. Recovered but dazed by the- nation's tragedy, he decided to slow down and soon after moved to Lewes. He found being still wasn't exciting enough, so he dabbled in real estate until he decided to refuel his passion for interior design and open a store. "I just love the downtown area," he said. It took a while to find the right space, but as soon as he saw it, Zaueha said he knew he wasin business. In the future, Zaucha plans to make the tiny covered carport a display area for outdoor furniture. "We'll have it painted; lit up, and get those plastic coverings so I can display wicker and things like that out there," he said.. He also said he plans to make the kitchen a display room for dinette sets and other fun kitchen accessories. "But we don't carry pots and pans and things like -that,"+he said, making sure people understand this is not the typical consignment or junk shop.
