52 - CAPE GAZETTE Friday, January 26 - Monday, January 29, 2007 Delaware Hospice benefits from. local community's generosity The Village at Bear Trap Dunes presented Delaware Hospice with a $12,223 check recently in a for- mal ceremony in Ocean View. The funds, raised with two very successful charitable events, will be directed to the Delaware Hospice New Hope Program. New Hope is a program for children and adolescents coping with the loss of a loved one and offers counseling, resources, workshops, support groups and a summer day camp. These components of New Hope focus on helping children work with their loss, learn from their giief and find life from their loss. .Mary Jane Bauer and Maureen Hurst served as co-chairwomen of Bear Trap Dunes' fundraising events. "We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the many generous donors who supported us," said Bauer. "We were overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and generosi- ty of our committee, the home- owners, and the surrounding com- munity." "They certainly contributed to the success of our Golf Classic and Holiday Home Tour and to the benefit of a very good cause," said Hurst. The first event was a Member/Guest Golf Classic held at Bear Trap Dunes Country Club Nov. 10; 57 golfers participated. The second event was Dec. 2, when several families at Bear Trap Dunes opened their homes for .the Celebration of Light Holiday Home Tour. More than 150 guests toured the homes.
