CAPE, Friday, u,wy,. Fe__h-y 5, 1N8-- I1 I i Nor'easter once again creates a temporary island at point of Cape Henlopen The point at Cape Henlopon is probably the most dynamic piece of geog- raphy in the state of Delaware. You couldn't expect less from land consist- ing almost exclusively of sand and buffeted constantly by wind and se' The aerial photograph here shows the shifting sands of the cape and the Delaware Breakwater and its east-end lighthouse. The inset photograph, taken at the height of Wednesday's fierce n0r'caster, shows the wind-dri. yen, rushing waters that on high tide flow across the point just beyond the c, rmsy m point parking lot. The inset photograph also shows the east-end light and the steeply eroded face being ereated by the ocean attempting to connect with Delaware Bay. The new cut, which has begun appearing with regu. larity on northeast storms in recent years, threatens to one day create an island of the continually elongating point. The point became island for most of the day on Wednesday. Of course if the channel does some day be- come permanent, how long will the point last before being washed away? mm I are u# make - ones to that impactyour life, your earnings andyourjob tsfo. e Career exploration serus workshops at Delaware Tech Owens Campus u give you the information you need to choose a career field, and learn what it takes to get there.
