CAPE GAZgTI00, h*Iday, g00bmmey 4. P&rum00 16. Ig Church No Le Resort Association of Churches plans Sunday evening services in February The Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches is sponsoring an evening service and social on each of the four Sundays in February for the tenth consecutive year. Speakers and locations change from year to year enabling those who attend to participate in the devotions of the various denominations rep- resented, hear a minister from a neighboring town and sample refresh ments prepared by the host church, All services begin at 7:30 p.m., and are followed by a social, ending between 9 and 9:30 p.m. This year, Roy. Carrie Stein begins the series on Feb. 6 at John Wes- ley Methodist Church on Rt. 9. Feb. 13 finds Rev. Charles Moyer speaking at All Saints Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach. On Feb. 20, Rev. Edwin Thress delivers the message at the Lewes Presbyterian Church. The final speaker this year will be Rev. Randall Booth at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth on Feb. 27. The Association of Churches has grown over the years and has taken on a larger role in service to the communities and in fostering better understanding between member churches. One of the earliest projects was the annual CROP Walk, and it is still held each October. The Association also sponsors the Thanksgiving Service, Easter Sun- rise Service, Cape Henlopen High School Senior Service and the Sum- mer Sunday Services at the two state parks. Lend-A-Hand is an on-going project that provides temporary help so that family units will not become homeless and enabling them to get back on a sounder financial footing. This project is sponsored by pledges and donations from the various churches. As the program has grown, help is also given by individual donations and businesses, some of whom have done fund raisers to benefit the project. Another program is the Spring/Fall Work Project in which neighbors help neighbors. In the spring, they do home repairs for those unable to due to health, age or finances. In the fall, they help winterize homes. The number depends on volunteers and donations. This project has grown with the assistance of the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. Once again they look to their church membershi p for most of the neces- sary funds. The Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches meets the second Tuesday of the month at a different church each time. President A1 Glindemann invites all churches to send representatives to our next meeting 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 8. The meeting will be held at St. Edmond's Education Building, Rehoboth Beach. Gov. Carper to speak at St. Peter's Feb. 6 Gov. Thomas Carper will be the guest speaker at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Second St., Lewes, this Sunday, Feb. 6 at the 9 a.m. service, with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Everyone is invited to hear his speak on various volunteer opportuni- ties available for people who wish to become involved. Carper has been speaking at a number of churches throughout Delaware concerning this topic.
