-t- 108 - CAPE GAZETTE - Friday, February 8 - Monday, February 11, 2008 AAUW sponsors fundraiser April 17 The Coastal-Georgetown branch of the American Association of University Women will host a trivia event fundraiser at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, at Mariachi Restaurant, located on Wilmington Avenue in Rehoboth. The event will begin with a social hour and buffet lunch fol- lowed by the trivia games with four members on each team until 4 p.m. Prizes donated by restau- rants, merchants and the associa- tion will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place tables. These scholarships are given to elementary and middle school students in creative arts programs, high school science fair winners and high school and college stu- dents interested in continuing education. Tickets for the entire event are $30 per person and are available by contacting Betty Martin at 644-0729. Kunzig earns merit list at Kenyon College Robert Kunzig of Lewes has been named to the merit list for the first semester at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Kunzig, the son of Robert and Mary Kunzig, is a senior major- ing in art history and English at Kenyon. being offered at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus. Human Resources for Small Business: Safeguarding Your Future will help business owners and managers who are consider- ing hiring employees or want to comprehend employment law changes and requirements. Participants will gain an under- standing of recruitment and hiring practices, insight into planning and metrics and confidence in their ability to manage people. Garden clubs to offer $3,000 scholarship The Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs will present a $3,000 scholarship to the most qualified individual for the 2008- 09 academic year. The scholarship is available for junior, senior or graduate students currently enrolled in college. College sophomores may make an application for their junior year. Applicants must have a min- imum of a B average and a major in horticulture, floriculture, plant pathology or environmental con- cerns. The deadline to apply is March 1. Cape Henlopen School District FACILITIES TASK FORCE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED The Cape Henlopen School District is seeking to appoint a volunteer Facilities Task Force finalizing Phase II of the district's 20-year plan. The purpose of this Task Force will be (1) to evaluate the space, adequacy, and serviceability of the current Ninth Grade Campus (Lewes School), taking into consideration enrollment, community growth, programs, and services for the future needs of the district, and (2) to consider optional major capital improvements for the closing stages of the current high school project. The Task Force will be responsible for advising the Board of Education regarding these issues and how to best meet the needs of Cape students and the community. It is anticipated that the committee will make some preliminary recommendations prior to June 30, 2008, and serve an additional year on the issues. Candidates should possess the following qualities and interests: 1. Commitment to the improvement and advancement of the Cape Henlopen School District and its schools 2. Desire to be part of a group and support its decisions 3. Ability to work collaboratively ,ith others 4. Time available to actively participate on the project 5. Tina Hilligoss, Kyle's teacher at Milford High School, nominat- ed him for his academic excel- lence and exceptional leadership potential. While at the forum, he will be taking part in a National Security Strategy exercise 'that will focus on debating actions or reactions to hypothetical events taking place in the Eastern Congo region of Africa.
