We manufacture and install Quartz countertops, Granite countertops, Imninate countertops Wescoats Corner and Savannah Rd. Lewes, DE 644-9006 or 644-1131 J QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS Cambria's quartz products are sometimes called "engineered stone". Quartz is a natural stone consisting of 95% ground quartz. Different sizes of quartz particles are mixed with a small amount of resin and pigment, then baked, pressed, and polished to a high sheen that never dulls. Varinus-sized particles of pure quartz are placed into a mixer with polyester resins and pigment, then mixed to a dough. Then molded in a rubber mat. Next, it is sent to a vibro-compactor, where all air pockets are jiggled and compressed out to eradicate porosity. The slab is baked in a 225- degree oven for about 16 minutes, then cooled to room temperature before it is sanded and polished. The result is an extremely durable, strong, nonporous, food-safe, scratch-resistant, maimenance-free surface that showcases the natural beauty of quartz. Other stones popular for countertops include granite and marble, both carved straight from the earth. They are lauded for their durability and beauty, but require a sealant for some uses, because their natural veins ani porosity allow staining and bacterial contamination. Quartz's flexural strength is twice that of granite; its resistance to abrasion is higher than granite by 50%; its resistance to absorbing moisture is higher by eight times. Its physical chemistry is better, so it performs better. Quartz surfacing is used for both residential and commercial applications. Businesses like the rich look of floors and reception areas; Consumers use it primarily in kitchens and baths. Solid-surface countertops now seem kind of dull in comparison. There are natural variations in the color of quartz, and with pigmentation, Cambria offers 33 color choices. Cambria's major competitors --- Silestone products made by Spanish Manufactorer Cosentino S.A., Ceasarstone, made by an Isreali company of the same name, and the Zodiac brand from DuPont in Canada, are all imports. Cambria is an American family business located in Mn. Countertops & Colors, Inc. is proud to be one of Cambria's fabrication partners. Countertops & Colors sells Cambria for considerably less than any of the other stone products including granite.
