Milton votes to disband Main Street By Rosanne Pack After more than four years of activity, board members of Milton Main Street Inc. voted on Feb. 19 to disband the organization. The seven-one vote followed a motion entered by board member Tony Boyd-Heron; Don Post, board president, cast the single vote against disbanding. The common denominator in reasons given for dissatisfaction is a lack of participation, and volun- teer burn-out. Before the motion was entered, board members were individually polled and the major- ity stated a desire to continue the organization in one form or anoth- er. "It would be safe to swim then un- til the beach eroded, but it would be preserved under the sand," he said. Vowing to keep everyone abreast of any developments, Hughes said he would be survey- ing the site with a maritime con- tractor this week. Having heard the discussion, Mihalis warned them that their position should be taken serious- ly, as many are year-round resi- dents, reiterating they felt insulted by past comments and feel there have been implications that they are being taken too lightly. Coop- er said such is not the case and their stance would be taken into consideration before they would proceed.
