32 - CAPE GAZETI, Friday, February 21- February 27, 1997 Easter 00ieals offering free course on D0000naVox 2c March 20 The Easter Seal Society, a provider of services to enhance the lives of people in all segments of the community, is offering a workshop at its Assistive Tech- nology Resource Center in the Kent County Community School, Carver Road, in Dover on Thurs- day, March 20. The workshop is free for Delaware residents and $20 for all others. The workshop, "Introduction to DynaVox 2c" is a hands-on expe- rience which is appropriate for teachers, therapists, parents and personal attendants who have or, who are interested in the new Dy- naVox 2c system and/or DynaVox software for Macintosh or DOS- based computers. This workshop will start with an overview of the features and capa- bilities of the software, followed by hands-on training of basic set- up and programming techniques that include access methods, pro- gramming buttons, creating new pages and page linking. Previous experience with the Dyna Vex system is not neces- sary. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and registra- tion is required at least one week in advance. Participants who have a Dyna Vex 2c should bring it with them. Continuing Education Units (CELl) for OT, Speech Language Pathologists and Department of Public Instruction in-service cred- its have been approved for this workshop. An additional $10 non- refundable fee for CEUs and in- service credits for all participants is required. YMCA fitness class for kids starts March 4 Children ages 7-13 can enjoy various fitness activities and games with upbeat movies in this circuit format class beginning Tuesday, March 4. The eight-week, 40 minute "Youth Circuit Power" will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. in the YMCA gym with in- structor Nancy Marvel. Full family membership rate is $16, Full Individual rate is $20, Associate rate is $48, and non- member rate is $67. Free fitness lectures offered by YMCA The YMCA will offer a series of fitness lectures on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. beginning March 6. The lectures will be open to the public and are free. The lectures are being offered in conjunction with a new class "Free To Be Me," geared toward those who wish to become more active and more fit in their presently "oversized" or "seden- tar)," bodies. This class meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and on Satur- days at 11:15 a.m. Call the YM- CA at 227-8018 for more infor- mation. The first Thursday night lecture on March 6 will feature Mary Wilcoxin, a University of Delaware Home Economist, who will speak on the topic of beart- healthy cooking. On March 13, Paul Timmons, personal trainer, will talk about the benefits of strength training. On March 20, Kim Wescott of Beebe Medical Center will speak on nutrition. The last lecture, March 27, will feature Steve Kastner, YMCA personal trainer, who will speak on cardiac care.
