18 - CAPE GAZETI, Friday, February 23- February 29, 1996 Anniversary party Mary and Wiley Marler of Rehoboth Beach celebrated their 61st wedding anniver- sary on Friday, Jan. 19, with a party given by friends and family at La Rosa Negra in Lewes. The couple was married in Chester, Pa. and retired to the Cape Region, with Wiley International Women's Day Dinner set In honor of the accomplish- ments of women and to celebrate women's history, the International Women's Day Dinner will be held Wednesday, March 6 at Sussex Pines Country Club in George- town. The evening begins with cock- tails at 6:30 p.m., followed by din- ner at 7 p.m., and the program at 8 p.m. Mistress of ceremonies will be Patricia Rodriguez, 1995 Delaware Mother of the Year. The featured speakers are Diana Erney, counselor; Bonnie Hall, special programs director; Dr. Ruth Laws, retired educator; and Dr. Jackie Wilson, school admin- istrator. These women with di- verse experiences and back- grounds will share the secrets to their success as women and pro- fessionals. Special guests include Gov. Tom Carper and Lt. Gov. Ruth Ann Minner. Tickets are $20 per Morgan to wed Dr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Mor- gan of Lewes are proud to an- nounce the engagement of their daughter, Nancy, to Jay Ashby, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Ashby of Lewes. The prospective bride is a 1989 graduate of Cape Hen- lopen High School and grad. uated from the College Uni- versity of North Carolina at Greensboro with a bachelor of science degree in textile products marketing. She is presently employed with Tidewater Physical Therapy and pursuing a mas- ter's degree in physical ther- apy. Landscaping in Lewe 1996 Youth Eplosion to feature Mike Hall The 1996 Youth Explosion, with the theme "The're's Only One Way 2 Play and That's Drug Free," will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, March 2 at the 400 Club on Hebron Road, West Re- hoboth. Mike Hall of Millsboro, the "strongest drug-free man in the world," will appear at the event, and there will be refresh- ments and a variety of other activ- ities. Organizers are encouraging everyone in the Lewes and Re- hoboth communities, especially children, to attend the Youth Ex- plosion and officials from the mu- nicipalities will be on hand. Miss Tri-County Pageant seeks applicants The Miss Tri-County Scholar- ship Pageant is looking for intelli- gent, talented young women be- tween the ages of 17 and 24 years old to compete Sunday, March 10 in Ocean View. The scholarship pageant is a preliminary for the Miss Delaware Scholarship Pageant which is part of the Miss American Scholarship organiza- tion, which provides more than $100 million in scholarships to women. Participants will compete in interview, talent, swimsuit and evening gown and the pageant is open to all young women who live, work, or go to school in Delaware.
