Rock 'n' Roll Relief to benefit Nora Smith
"Rock 'n' Roll Relief" is the lat-
est event coordinated to benefit
Milton Middle School seventh
grader Nora Smith. Nora was di-
agnosed with a cancer known as
non-Hodgkins lymphoma in Au-
gust of 1995.
Rock 'n' Roll Relief is a "FUN-
raiser" that is scheduled from 7
p.m. to midnight on Friday, March
8 at the BayCenter in Dewey
Beach.
Entertainment will be provided
throughout the evening by local
musical artists Doug James, The
Blues Gems and The Funsters.
For a ticket price of $10 per per-
son, one can enjoy the entertain-
ment and light hors d'oeuvres all
evening long.
Doug James, a nationally recog-
nized singer/songwriter, is per-
haps best
known for co-
writing the
1990 BMI
Song-of-the-
Year, "How
Am I Sup-
posed to Live
Without
You" with
singer JAMES
Michael
Bolton. Locally, James records
and produces out of his home stu-
dio in Rehoboth Beach.
The Blues Gems have been per-
forming locally for nearly six
years. Members R.C. Barnard,
Nelson Pennypacker, Bill Larsen
and Pete Thompson perform a
lively mix of original and cover
songs featuring renditions of tunes
by Robert Johnson, B.B. King and
Muddy Waters.
The Funsters - Keith Mack,
Greg Mack and Ed Shockley - are
also one of the Cape region's
hottest acts. Both Keith and Ed
have completed professional stu-
dio work in New York City. and
Los Angeles and have performed
locally for over 20 years. The
Funsters perform a crowd-pleas-
ing mixture of covers and origi-
nals, including music by the Beat-
les, Spirit, Sam and Dave and oth-

Rock and Roll Revival set March 1
The Worchester Country School in Berlin, MD will be presenting the
annual musical "Rock and Roll Revival II: The British Are Coming."
Show dates and times are: Friday, March 1, 8 p.m.; Saturday, March
2, 8 p.m.; and Sunday, March 3, 2 p.m.
Admission is $5 presale for all ages and $7.50 at the door for all ages.
