CAPE GAZETYE, Friday, February 23 - February 29, 1996 - 35 "The Swinging 40s" heading for Rehoboth March I Following three sold-out performances last year, the 1940s musical troupe Hannan, MeKen- na & Williams is returning on Friday, March I to Victoria's Restaurant within the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel The performer, Carolyn Hannan, Larry McKenna and Marlene Williams (l-r), will present a program entitled"A New Look at the Old Songs: The Swinging 40s". Included will be renditions of 40s favorites such as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Bof, "I'll Be Seeing You", "How About You" and a host of other classics from the era. The performance is part of a din- ner show format that begizm at 6 p.m. Cost for the dinner and show is $46; seating is extreme- ly limited. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling 227-7169 or (800) 33- BEACH. Elegant Swan exhibit opens March I at Del Tech An invitational art exhibit enti- tled "The Elegant Swan," will be on display from Friday, March I through March 31 in the Stephen J. Betze Library at Delaware Tech Owens Campus, Georgetown. According to Carolyn DePew, coordinator of the Delaware Wildlife Art Exhibition and Sale, invitations were extended by the college to selected members of The Society of Animal Artists, headquartered in New York. "This exquisite exhibit of the society's members' artistic inter- pretation of 'The Elegant Swan' is representative of the level of art work that .both Delaware Tech and the exhibition aspire to bring to the public," DePew said. Approximately 20 original paintings and sculptures will be , on display and all works of art will be for sale. The artists participating include Edward Aldrich, Colorado; Charles Allmond, Delaware; Michael Dumas, Canada; Heiner Hertling and John Felsing, Michi- gan; Claiborne Gregory, John Hamberger and David Turner, Virginia; Janet Heaton, John Seerey-Lester, Florida; Ala Hunt of Wisconsin; Robert MeNamara of New York; Leo Osborne of Washington; and Francis Sweet of Maryland. The exhibit will be open to the public in Room 418 of the library from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mon- day through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Friday during March. During the three-day period of March 15-17, the exhibit will be on display at the Higher Educa- tion Building as part of the Delaware Wildlife Art Exhibition and Sale. "Something Moot" auditions slated soon Auditions for Second Street Players' production of the musical/mys- tery/comedy "Something's Afoot" will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Satur- day and Sunday, March 2-3 in the Second Street Players' Riverfront Theatre. "Something's Afoot" show dates are May 17-19 and 24-26. A hu- morous take off on the Agatha Christie inystery classic "Ten Little Indi- ans", the musical requires a total of 10 adult males and females of vari- ous ages. The auditions consist of cold readings from the script and a prepared vocal selection. Those auditioning should bring sheet music for the accompanist. A copy of the script is available for perusal at the Milford Public Library. For more information, call 422-0220.
