CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, February 28- March 6, 1997 Lewes American Legion honors restaurants The American Legion Post Auxiliary #17 (Lewes) recently presented the Rose and Crown Restaurant and Jerry&apos;s Amer- ican Cafe with certificates of appreciation for their partici- pating in the Poppy Drive. In the top photo, Rose & Crown owner John Lester, Jr. (second from left) is presented a certificate by (l-r): Delaware American Legion President and American Legion 17 Presi- dent Betty Dunn, Poppy Drive chair Suzanne Martin and American Legion 17 Secretary Ethel Stewart. Cape Region residents to serve on family board Ronald W. Borders, of Fairway Development Group, and James C. Walston of Townsends, Inc., have been named to the Kent and Sussex Advisory Board of Family and Children's Services at a re- cent board meeting. Borders, a principal of Fairway Develop- ment, a Sussex County building firm, is a native Delawarean with a range of business experience. He serves on the board of the former Children's Bureau of Delaware and Family and Children's Ser- vices of Delaware, where he held the post of treasurer. A resident of Rehoboth Beach, Borders is also active as a volunteer for the Re- hoboth Little League. Walston was promoted to vice- president of Human Resources in May of 1993. He has been with Townsends, Inc., since 1985 and is responsible for all human rCsourccs policies, training and WALSTON compensation programs, safety and employee benefits. Prior to working with Townsends, Walston was at Per- due, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Ad- ministration from Salisbury State University. The board of directors of Family and Children Services also unanimously approved changing the name of the agency to Children & Families First. 'qhe new name emphasizes exactly who we serve," stated Mary John- ston, who is newly elected presi- dent of the board. In 1996, over 40,000 clients utilized services which ranged from parent educa- tion to counseling to foster care. Johnston said the new name would set the organization apart from government agencies as a no- for-profit statewide social ser- vice agency. Children & Families First has offices in Wilmington, Newark, Claymont, Dover, Mil- ford, Georgetown, Seaford, Lewes and Roxana.
