Second Street Players call for directors With the first play of the season in rehearsal, Second Street Players invites prospective directors to ap- ply for any of the three remaining shows of the season. Delaware premiere of the new musical, "School House Rock Live!" has production dates of May 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25. A summer comedy, "Don't Dress for Dinner," will be presented July 25, 26, and 27 and August 1, 2 and 3. The final play in the regular season, the classic "Miracle on 34th Street," is set for Nov. 28, 29 and 30 and Dec. 5, 6 and 7. Dead- line for submitting applications to direct is Friday, March 7; applica- tions should contain theatre expe- rience and any ideas for produc- tion. Applications may be mailed to Second Strreet Players, Box 470, Milford, 19963. Directors are encouraged to suggest plays for future seasons. The musical, "School House Rock Live!", is a stage adaptation of the popular television series of educational snippets presented in cartoon format. It is written for adufi voices and the script in- cludes full vocal and instrumental score. It is intended for general audience of all ages. "Don't Dress for Dinner" is an adult comedy that seasons attempts at amorous indiscretion with overtones of gourmet cooking. Add confusion over who is sleeping in the vari- ous rooms of the remodeled barn, the piggery, the corn crib, the sta- ble, and the show has all the ingre- dients of an entertaining produc- tion. Long a classic on the movie screen, most recently as a re- make, "Miracle on 34th Street" fi- nally comes to the live stage, and Second Street Players has it first in the state. The heartwarming story of a department store Santa Claus who believes he actually is the one-and-only and a cynical Macy's employee and her faith- filled young daughter, the stage version is true to the tale that gen- erations love. The Players are also accepting applications for someone to devel- op and direct the Annual Trustees Dinner Theatre Gala. The threatre group's major fundraiser of the year, the gala is Saturday, Sept. 13. Trustees and their guests enjoy dinner before coming to the the- atre for the production of the evening. Traditionally, the gala is a musical presentation and past productions include musical re- vues such as "Movie-Toons," "Showstoppers," "Tony! Tony! Tony!," and the full length musi- cal, "Little Shop of Horrors." For information call Riverfront Theatre, 422-8777.
