I 7 CAPE GAZETTE - Friday, March 3 - Monday, March 6, = John and May Shanaphy have earned two professional designa- tions recently, the first being Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). The Senior Advantage Real Estate Council (SAREC) gives the SRES designation after Realtors demonstrate their requi- site knowledge, experience and expertise to be a senior's real estate specialist and counselor. After completing its education program along with other prereq- uisites, the Shanaphys earned their SRES designations and are now qualified to assist seniors (defined as people at least age 55) in making knowledgeable deci- sions when buying, selling or renting real estate. The SAREC tracks the special issues and needs of senior proper- ty owners. The SRES is a nation- The Delaware Economic Development Office (DEDO) and officials from the University of Delaware's Institute for Public Administration will host a public workshop to solicit public insight and feedback on the committee work for the statewide economic development strategy. The workshop is part of a series of meetings and workshops for a statewide economic development plan that will stimulate business, foster a diversified economy and improve the quality of life for workers and residents across all areas of Delaware. The project is the development of a blueprint for a comprehensive economic devel- opment strategy. The state public workshop will be from 4 to 7 p.m Wednesday, March 29, at the Delaware Technical & Community College, Terry campus, Room 400B, Corporate Training Center, Dover. "We encourage all community members interested in the future of the state of Delaware's econo- my and the future of their families to attend the workshops," said DEDO Director Judy McKinney- Cherry. "The public workshops are an opportunity for the general public to review the work done by the committee and to comment or ask questions about the visions, goals, objectives a~nd strategies developed by the committee." The comprehensive economic development strategy will be the first statewide economic plan and the first time the counties and state will be working towards the same goals. The development of the plan calls for local involve- ment and participants.
