Ed Lewandowski, executive director of the Center for the Inland Bays (CIB), headquar- tered just a few hundred feet from the pro- posed 200,000-square-foot casino complex, saidthe project is contrary to an intergovern- mental agreement pledging to achieve the goals of the Inland Bays Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan (CCMP). He wants a review of the project to see where it conflicts with the plan. "It stretches my imagination to envision the siting of a project of this size and scope immediately adjacent to our estuary's vital connection to the waters of the coastal ocean," he said. "Because the magnitude and intensity of different changes in land use in the Inland Bays watershed are having signifi- cant and often degrading effects, the center continues to have concerns about the envi- ronmental impacts associated with such changes."
