Carl King Tire Company buys Five Points Confidential Services property By Dennis Forney Cfirl King Tire Company of Camden recently purchased the 1.8 acre Confidential Services property on Route 1 just north of Five Points. Dick Hawes; vice president and general manager of the tire and auto service company, said a new store will be opened in the build- ing where Smith's Canvas and Upholstery and Willow Oak Con- struction are presently located. Confidential Services will contin- ue to occupy the front building in the complex for another year. "We haven't decided yet what we will do with the front buil.d- ing," said Hawes. Hawes said the new Carl King Tire Company will be the third store for the company. "We also have stores in Middletown and Camden," said Hawes. "This is part of our long-range plan. We've been looking for the right property for some time and this property suits our needs. This will give us coverage of all of Delaware south of the canal," Hawes said Carl King Tire stores offer certified Goodyear au- to service, sell tires and also do some commercial and farm fleet tire service. "We offer road tire service too. That' s another reason Rehoboth's Garey Alan Garey recently joined Century 21 Wilgus Associates as a real estate sales associate, ac- cording to broker Michael Wilgus. The company has offices on South Coastal Highway in Bethany Beach and West Market Street in Georgetown. Garey, an active mem- ber of Delaware' s GAREY beach resort community, currently serves as a Rehoboth Beach planning com- missioner, and with wife Sherry, owns and operates Wild Birds Un- limited. He has previously ser.ved as a representative to the Delaware Land Use conference, where he was a featured speaker, and on the boards of Rehoboth Beach Main Street and the Rehoboth Beach Downtown Business Association. Garey holds a B.S. from the Maclntire School of Commerce of the University of Virginia, and a graduate degree from Pepperdine University. He is a retired U.S. Navy avia- tor. Garey's family has lived on Delmarva for 10 generations. As a real estate associate, Garey says he will use his knowledge of the area's natural environmefit to help his customers and clients find Carl King Tire Company has purchased from Jim Horn the parcel at Five Points where Confidential Services is located. why we like the new location. We have a lot of customers who do work down that way and this will put us closer to them." Hawes said he hopes to have the new location open for business by the coming summer. Jim Horn, president and founder of Confidential Services, said he decided to sell after being ap- proached by a Jack Lingo Realtor representative. "They told me they had a buyer and offered a fair price so I decided to sell," said Horn. "We don't need this amount of space or this kind of highway visibility. People don't come to us looking for three pounds of guards or seven yards of detectives. We have 118 em- ployees for our security business but they work offsite and we jus t have offices. Confidential Ser- vices is leasing back our current offices for a year while we decide where to move. I'll probably build a new building some where," said Horn. Horn said Dave Shevock of Willow Oak Construction plans to retire while Bob Smith of Smith's Canvas and Upholstery plans to move his business to a new loca- tion at Nassau Commons. joins Century 21 Wilgus Associates or sell their beach property. Patricia explains, "We really did our home- work. For a year and a half we came to Lewes and Rehoboth Beach on weekends searching for our 'dream' home in an ideal location. "We looked at models in all of the nice com- munities. We visited builders, shops and stores, even the post office, always asking their opinions on the most reliable builders and the most desirable locations. "While exploring all the nooks and crannies, we found Plantations.-In Plantations, we found the exact house, with separate guest quarters, we wanted. Now, we say that we foundthe right area, the right community, the right builder -- Country Life Homes -- and the right home. "We loved Plantations and our new home so much, we made the decision to retire a year earlier than we had planned -- just to get this completely new-type of design in a house. "Here, everyone is so nice and so friendly. When you visit Plantations, you'll be able to see for yourself just what we're talking about:" Prices start at $113,500.
