Dogfish Head has f'mely ,:00:afted ales, wood-grilled food in its (,a:mal setting Spring is just around the comer and Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats is ready with an updated menu, lots of great specials and barrels and barrels of fresh, premise-brewed ales. The menu features fabulous appetizers, sand- wiches and entr6es prepared on the oak and hickory burning grill. From steaks and seafood to pizza, the grill makes all the difference when it comes to taste. The Dogfish Head Veggie Burger is a great choice and the salmon burger, served on a sourdough baguette with marinated red onions and saga bleu cheese, is still a huge seller. The classic burger (grilled any way you like it) and Caesar salads with wood-grilled toppings are also favorites. The wood- grilled pizzas are still a sure bet. This is particularly true on Thursdays for "Pizza Night," when a three- topping individual pizza is just $5. Thursday nights also features a pint of beer special. Brewer Vlad Ponomarev picks a different ale each week and sells it for just $2 a pint. The ales at Dogfish Head are imported...aU the way from the other room. The beer is brewed right in the pub's brewery, which means it's the freshest ale around. Staples include the slightly nutty Shelter Pale Ale, the Chicory Stout (which is made with Oby Lee coffee) and the complex, strong Immort Ale. There e always two or three others on tap, including Post & Beam Brown Ale, Apricot Wheat, Scotch Ale and more. Vlad also makes a mean non- alcoholic "Big, Bad, Birch Beer." Dogfish Head ales are quickly gaining a national reputation. "Ale Street News" (the country's largest cirulation "brewspaper") said, "Two of the best beers I've had in the past six months have come from Rehoboth Beach: Immort Ale and Chicory Stout." The brewpub is also staking its claim as a desti- nation for music lovers. Dogfish Head features live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday artists are generally local and acoustic. Saturday acts are more national in scope. Pick UP the January issue of "GQ" magazine to read all about rock-a-billy legend Sleepy LaBeef. He's playing at Dogfish head this spring. Visit the pub on Thursday and Friday afternoons, from 4 to 7 p.m., for happy hour. Specials include one dollar off pints of homemade ale and rail drinks. Fridays at Dogfish Head is Bring Your Own Log (BYOL) night. Bring a log for the upstairs wood- stove and get $1 off a pint of ale. Free pool starts at 10 p.m. Saturday; Sunday night is Veggie Night, where you'll find lots of vegetarian specials. All of Dogfish Head's finely crafted ales are available to go in half-gallon "Growler" jugs. Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats: 320 Rehoboth Avenue, Rehoboth Beach.
