Cape Thespians present 00u're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" March 20-23 By Matthew Wilcox With an attendance milestone set by last year's Cape musical, "The Wizard of Oz," the Cape Thespians will attempt to create another crowd attraction with their production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," set for a run on March 20,23 in the Cape Henlopen High School Lit- tle Theater. The musical addresses the childhood occurrences of the characters made popular by Charles Schulz's timeless Peanuts comic strip that has graced the cover of the Sunday funny pages for four decades: the wishy-washy Charlie Brown, the blanket-de- pendent Linus, the domineering Lucy, the cute little red-head Pep- permint Patty, and, of course, Snoopy, the extremely imagina- tive beagle. The childhood motif of the play and the actions that were required to create that environment come as an important task to the mem- bers of the cast. To perform sys- tematically and in a unisonic fash- ion, choreography and vocals had to be shaped with demands "not to sing too classically or prettily," said senior chorus member Heather Gibson. "At times," said Marco Kaye, another chorus member, "it's considered neces- sary to sing loudly, boisterously and even obnoxiously to deliver that childish sound." Assistance in such tasks was provided by newcomer Stephanie 00Lamp Post Who Says There's No Free Lunch? Every Friday we draw a business card and award a lunch for two to the winner.
