I d JH. 26 TUESDAY, MARCH 10 - THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2009 HE'ALTH"&*FITNESS* Cape Gazette Jean & Joan Fund raises $30,000 Tunnell uses money for patient care The Jean & Joafi Fund commit- tee recently presented $30,000 to Beebe Medical Center TunneU Cancer Center. The money will be used for patient care. The funds were raised at the ninth annual Jean & Joan Fund Golf Classic in October. The Jean & Joan Fund was es- tablished in memory of Jean James and Joan Martin, two womeri who lost their battles with cancer. During their final months, both women were sur- rounded by families who loved and cared for them, and a circle of friends who gave their time and support. "It is most important that peo- ple going through these trying times receive all the physical and spiritual support available," said organization Chairman and Founder Jim Martin. "The goal of the Jean & Joan Fund is to as- sist the Tunnell Cancer Center in providing care and comfort for patients and their families." The Jean & Joan Fund has con- tributed a total of $250,000 since its first tournament in 2000. These donation have been used to purchase two vans to carry needy patients to their treat- ments; screenings; a wall for the healing garden; funding of a pa- tient Special Needs Fund; the Jean & Joan New Reflection Cen- ter and Library; wheelchairs; stretchers; an examination table; and emergency diagnostic equipment. The Jean & Joan Fund was the official charity of the Kings Creek Country Club since its inception and reflects the club's commitment to the lo- cal community.
