m Miss America Organization to host national teen pageant For the first time in its 84-year history, the Miss America Organi- zation will host a national teen pageant, giving girls ages 13 to 17 across the country the opportunity to become the first Miss Ameri- ca's Outstanding Teen. The event will be held later this year, but first, each state must present its own Outstanding Teen Pageant with the winners advanc- ing to the national competition. The Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization, an affiliate of the Miss America Organization, will host its Outstanding Teen Pageant at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 24, at the Wells Theater of Wesley College in Dover. Contestants must be between the ages of 13 and 17 on the date of the pageant but must not be a high school senior. Each contestant will be judged on a seven-minute interview with the judges, a two-minute talent presentation, evening gown com- petition and a physical fitness competition. Linda Kurtz, Miss Delaware 2004, will serve as pag- eant emcee. The winner of Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen Pageant will re- ceive a $1,000 savings bond, a crown, airfare and accommoda- tions to the national Miss Ameri- ca's Outstanding Teen Pageant, Miss America bracelet, compli- mentary tickets to the Miss Delaware Pageant, participation in the Miss Delaware parade, and the opportunity to perform at the Miss Delaware Pageant, held June 10-11 in Rehoboth Beach. The registration fee is $300, which includes a nonrefundable $50 deposit. Applications and the $50 deposit are due by Monday, March 21. The remaining fee is due by Friday, April 8. Tickets to the event will be $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12.
