70 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, March 11 - March 14, 2005 St. Peter's Choir to present concert of Lenten music March 13 St. Peter's Choir, under the direction of George Bayley, or- ganist and choirmaster, will present a concert of Lenten mu- sic at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 13. The featured work will be "Requiem," by contemporary English composer John Rutter. Music by Gabriel Faur, George Bayley, Herbert Howells, Richard Lloyd and J.S. Bach will also be included. Rutter's "Requiem" is regarded as his greatest contribution to the world of choral music. It was written in 1985 and dedi- cated to the memory of his father, who had died the previous year. Charlotte Freeman will be the soprano soloist for the Re- quiem; the instrumentalists are Anne Sullivan, harp; Joan Sparks, flute; John O'Meara, oboe; Mark Ward, cello; Missy Moore, glockenspiel; George Freeman, tympani; and Dr. David Herman, organ. The concert is free and open to the public. Submitted photos Sunday School class creates quilt Members of the Westminster Presbyterian Sunday School pose with their teacher, Silvia Ritchie, and a quilt created by the class featuring their handprints. The quilt, which repre- sents hands of love and blessing, has been given to a Httle girl in the class who is being treated for cancer. Louise Burtoti, Dianne Deming, Sarah Ortolani and Diantha Pack completed the stitch work on the quilt. Carriker honored on 90th birthday Dr. Melbourne Carriker was congratulated on his 90th birthday at Westminster Presbyterian Church Feb. 27. Dr. Carriker is professor emeritus of the Graduate College of Marine Studies at the University of Delaware in Lewes.
