68 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, March 24 - March 30, 2000 Submitted pho- Possum Juniors looking for a few good actors Possum Juniors, the teenage arm of Possum Point Players, have been meeting bimonthly with their advisor, local stage director and actor Ferdi Perrone. Shown in the photo is Luke Sizemore, president of the Juniors, center, vice president Laura Belcot and Perrone. The meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of the month at Possum Hall Possum Juniors are open to any youth attending sixth to 12th grades. Cops to serve Law enforcement officers statewide will replace their handcuffs and badges with serving trays and menus as part of the Cops and Lobsters fundraiser when they team up with Red Lobster restaurants to benefit Special Olympics Delaware. Cops and Lobsters is an annual fundraising event organized by Red Lobster with state and local law enforcement agencies and Special Olympics throughout the United States and Canada. From 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, March 24, state, local, county and municipal law enforcement officers will volunteer their time as celebrity waiters, serving guests at the Dover Red Lobster restaurant. The offi- cers will earn tips for Special Olympics. In 1999, claws for Special Olympics March 24 thousands of police officers in 650 locations nation- wide volunteered in Cops and Lobsters and raised $1,053,976 in tips for Special Olympics, a 63 per- cent increase over 1998. Special Olympics is a year-round sports training and competition program that allows more than 1 million children and adults with some form of men- tal retardation in 150 countries a chance to train and compete in athletic events. Cops and Lobsters is just one event in which Delaware law enforcement comes together as a team to raise money for Special Olympics Delaware. For more information, call Capt. Saturday, March 25 "NITE LIFE" ......... , DE Meet artist Henry Meier at Rehoboth Art League April 12 Watercolorist Henry Meier will give a demonstration of his paint- ing technique and style at 7 p.m., Wednes- day, April 12, in the Cham- bers Studio. Meier's works have been published in "Watercolor" magazine, MEIER "Delaware Today," and the 1994 Winsor and Newton Artists calen- dar. He has also been featured in major exhibitions like the Nation- al Watercolor Society. Meier was awarded Best of Show by the Philadelphia Watercolor Club. His work is also included in various private collections, such as the Winterthur Foundation. The cost for the demonstration is $10 per person. Meier will also be teaching two classes on paint- ing marine scenes later in the sea- son. Anyone interested in regis- tering should call the Rehoboth Art League at 227-8408.
