50 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, March 27 - April 2, 1998 Cape district students compete in annual Odyssey of the Mind At left, third-place winners in the state Odyssey of the Mind competition include (back row, l-r) Reinie Vugrinec, Craig Porter and Julia Morris. After months of practice and preparation, students from the Cape Henlopen School District presented creative answers to their long-term problems in the annual Delaware Odyssey of the Mind (OM) state competition. Cape Henlopen registered 10 teams to compete in the state com- petition. Overall, 80 teams from Delaware presented their solu- tions in front of judges, family and friends at Sussex Central High School on March 14. Students were able to choose from five problems: Pageant Wagon, Marvelous Mentor, Morph Magic, Camouflaged Cre- ation and Create & Animate. Coaches and volunteers worked many hours to guide the students on their creative journeys. Most of the students have been worldng on OM since October. Four teams from Cape Hen- lopen received medals and tro- phies at the awards ceremony. Lewes Middle School student Craig Porter won the annual T- shirt design contest. His design will appear on the Delaware OM state T-shirt for 1999. The special guest presenter was Senator George H. Bunting Jr, D-Bethany Beach. The following students and coaches received medals and tro- phies: Camouflaged Creation, Divi- sion 2, second place - Team mem- bers included William Albanese, Joey Baker, Sean Donovan, Ross Karsnitz, Andrew McManaman and Daniel Redard.
