Rehoboth's ICON Factory completes bronze trophy for Friends of Princeton Fencing The ICON Factory in Rehoboth Beach has made it to the Ivy League by leaving its mark among one of the oldest intercollegiate tournament trophies in America. ICON owners and artists Victor Jr. and Karen Letonoff recently completed a cast bronze fencing trophy commissioned by the Friends of Princeton Fencing. The one-quarter life-size figures represent the combined men's and women's annual championship for the Intercollegiate Fencing As- sociation. The association was established at the end of the 19th century and involves 14 East Coast colleges. The equality symbolized by both sexes being combined in one award plays a significant role in the history of a typically male-off- ented sport. '"The Friends of Princeton Fenc- ing are proud to have the ICON Factory provide the commemora- tive trophy on the eve of the 21st century," said Paul Epply- Schmidt, of the Friends of Prince- ton Fencing. The Letonoffs also create func- tional furniture and accessories in forged steel. Selections of their work may be viewed at their storefront in Re- hoboth and custom pieces can be created upon request. The ICON Factory is located at 24 Christian St. and is open year- round. It is currently operating under its winter schedule: Friday and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.; and by appointment by calling 227-1105.
