Clever cuisine with innovative menu items make-The Pantry a hit Located on Wilmington Avenue in Rehoboth Beach, The Pantry (formerly Pierre's Pantry) is owned and operated by Nancy Cleveland and Kitty Watson. They purchased the business from chef/owner Peter Wise, who opened Pierre's Pantry in 1989. Although much of its staple menu has remained the same during the transition, the new proprietors have added many items to the original menu and said they'll cater to the needs of their local clientele. Among the new items are the Pantry's "wrap sandwiches." Choose from the already-popular "Greek Wrap," seasoned lamb, tzaziki sauce (made fresh in-house), saut6ed onions and tomatoes; the "Omelette Wrap," potatoes, red bell peppers, onions, honey ham and eggs topped with cheese and salsa; or the "Veggie Wrap," onions, red and green bell peppers, mush- rooms and tomatoes, served lightly saut6ed or cru- dite-style with sprouts and cucumber. The Pantry also features chicken or turkey wraps. All wraps are served in a flour tortilla and each is made with cold-pressed, 100 percent virgin olive oil. A choice of four side items is also included with each sandwich selection on the menu. Other sandwich items are served on either rolls, grainy bread or crusty bread/baguette. Try the "NZ" sandwich, made with avocado, egg, mushroom and tomato on toasted grain bread, or a portabella mushroom, saut6ed and served on grain bread with Romaine and tomato. In addition, The Pantry features a medley of lus- cious desserts, pies, croissants, sweet rolls and cook- ies to fill the bill for "sweet tooths." French and sourdough batards are available for purchase if ordered ahead of time. New owners Nancy and Kitty said within two weeks they'll be offering espresso, cappuccino, latte and cafe au lait. There will also be new features added to the line- up at The Pantry. Stay tuned for details. All menu items are available for takeout or eat-in. The Pantry is offering free delivery to local business owners and offices via phone or fax order. A free prepaid order for beach delivery will also be available.
