Minner's terms in office, such as the indoor smoking ban, the SEED pro- gram for students and the veterans' home in Milford. He also credited the Sussex County Women's Democrat Club for his successful campaigns. He termed it "the Joe Biden model. Start your campaign with the backing of the Sussex County Women's Dem- ocrat Club." STEVEN BiLLUPS PHOTOS THE SUSSEX COUNTY WOMEN'S Democrat Club hosted its annual Minner Windsor Dinner March 14 at Sussex Pines Country Club. Former Gov. Ruth Ann Minner and former Secretary of State Harriet Smith Windsor were hon- orary chairs of the event honoring women veterans and women serving in the armed forces. Keynote speaker for the event was Air Force veteran Toni Berg- felder, who is also a board member of the Home of the Brave I and II. Also in attendance was U.S. Congressman John Carney. Prior to dinner, former Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, left, and Harriet Smith Wind- sor take a moment for a photo. Keynote speaker Toni Bergfelder is joined by active military women in atten- dance at the dinner. Shown are (I-r) SSgt. Michelle Henry, recruiter, Delaware National Guard; Bergfelder; and Tech Sgt. Sable Phomphakdy, assistant to the Commission of Veterans Affairs. Bergfelder joined the Army in 1963 and worked in Washington, D.C., until she was discharged because she was preg- nant. She spoke of the funding for the women's Home of the Brave II and the plans to build a Home of the Brave II on the grounds of the existing Home of the Brave.
