30 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, March 28- April 3, 1997 VFW Aiary hosts national president The Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234, Ocean View, was the site of a luncheon to honor Efleen Tanner (holding flowers), the national president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars on March 15. That evening, the Rehoboth Beach VFW Post 7447 honored Ruth Irvin (third from left) from the Rehoboth post, who is also president of the Depart- ment of Delaware Ladies Auxiliary, along with fellow Re- hoboth member Harry J. McLaughlin, who is Department of Delaware Commander. Also shown following the luncheon are (l-r)Sally Kubicki, senior vice president of Post 7234; Su- san Whitback, flag bearer;, Gloria Gumm, District 4 president; Caroline Short, hospitality chairman, and member Elaine Birbaum. Wyoming resident is Delaware Mother of the Year The Delaware Association of American Mothers has named Kay Wood Bailey of Wyoming as the 1997 Delaware Mother of the Year. Bailey, the mother of two children and grandmother of one, has been active in the communications industry, beginning with a four year stint as a weekly radio interviewer in the Washington, D.C. area during the 1970s. Later, she was founder and publisher of the "Wyoming Gazette" and hostess of a concurrent television program in Dover. She has served on the Wyoming Town Council and sits on many of the state's civic and historical boards. She has also been named Trailblazer of the Year by the Agenda for Delaware Women. She will be honored at a reception given by Gov. Thomas Carper at his home, Woodburn, in April. Also being honored are Beatrice Collins, a Milton resident, and Tamara Chase of Wyoming. Collins was selected as the 1997 Merit Mother, and Chase was selected to represent "Delaware Mothers of Young Children." Stuart " Kingston,, Inc.
