CAPE GAZETYE, Friday, March 28- April 3, 1997 - 43 a on pto were once part of the USSR. Students in Tammy Morley's World Cultures class have been digging in and logging on to pull together a project that combines research, computer skills and vi- sual aids. Before beginning the project, students were given in- struction on correct research pro- cedure and bibliography format. They started with a list of spe- cific information to search for and visual aids that would complete their project. Morley enlisted the aid of several other staff members at Milton Middle School and Dr. Wes Stack, technology specialist for the Cape Henlopen District, even spent a week in the class- room with her students. Stack brought five lap-top computers in and assisted students in applying word processg skills to their to- tal project. Also pulling together for the project were Mary Degnan, Martha Eisenhower, Ann Hugbey and Melissa Theberge. Degnan is a resource teacher who helped several student groups in develop- ing their research and writing skills. Eisenhower took groups of eight to I0 students to the Media Production Room and guided them on the internet as they searched for information on spe- Cific countries that were assigned to them. Hughey and Theberge helped students with writing their rough drafts before they began to enter them on the computers. Morley said, "I am happy to work with such a dedicated group of staff members who so willingly helped assist the students with this project. The availability of tech- nology helps put all students on a level playing field."
