Thinking Day is a day celebrated by all Girl Scouts and Girl Guides around the world, as they both belong to the World As- sociation of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouts. They share a three- part promise symbolized by a tree which helps them to live by the Girl Scout law. The tree symbolizes the life in Girl Scout- ing and Girl Guiding that is always growing and changing with the year. The trunk stands for the ideals and values that make up the basic foundation of Girl Scouting everywhere. The branches represent the leaders who get their strength from the foundation, but must also be flexible to bend with changes that come through the years. The needles represent the many girls involved who hold onto the branches for sup- port but change with every year. Also, below, Area 30 Girl Scouts, including those from Lewes, Rehoboth, Milton and Georgetown, celebrated Girl Scout Birthday at the BayCenter in Dewey Beach recently. Dressed in cowboy hats and boots, they learned country line dancing taught by Barbara Chaffinch and enjoyed cake and ice cream.
