Miss Daisy Werthan, played by Mikki Kahne of Lewes, reluctantly allows herself to be dri- ven to the Piggly Wiggly grocery store by Hoke Coleburn, played by David Payne of Rehoboth, in a scene from the Baystar Dinner Theatre's production of"Driving Miss Daisy". The perfor- mance will run from April 11 through May 17 at the Baystar Dinner Theatre within the Sea Horse Restaurant. For reservations, call 227-7451. "Driving Miss Daisy" rolls on stage at Rehoboth's Baystar Theatre April 11 "Driving Miss Daisy" rolls onto the Baystar Dinner Theatre Stage on Thursday, April 11 for a six week stay. "Driving Miss Daisy" is the warm hearted and gently humor- ous story of the relationship be- tween an aging Southern lady and the proud, soft-spoken black man who becomes her chauffeur, and in time, her best friend. The play was written by Alfred Uhry and opened at Playwrights Horizons in New York City on April 15, 1987 and won the Pulitzer Prize and the Outer Critics Circle Award for best off-Broadway play, Miss Daisy is played by Baystar veteran Mikki Kahne of Lewes. She has appeared in "Nunsense", "No Sex Please, We're British", "Arsenic and Old Lace" "A Talent for Murder" and "Christmas Ele- gance". She directed "The For- eigner" and produced "Friends". Hoke is played by David Payne of Rehoboth who is also a Baystar veteran. He has appeared in "No Sex Please, We're British", "The Fantasticks", "Something Won- derful", "South Pacific", "Christ- mas Elegance" and "Friends". He is the news director for WGMD. Richard Lawrence of Long Neck will portray Boolie, Miss Daisy's son. He is new to Baystar but not to theatre. He has had roles on "Days of Our Lives" and several films. His stage credits in- clude "The Fantastiks", "Cabaret", "The Fiddler on the Roof" and "Hello, Dolly". Geoff Thompson of Rehoboth is directing the production and Kimberly Wray of Millsboro is producing the show. "Driving Miss Daisy" will run on Thursday and Friday evenings in the Baystar Theatre. Featured in addition to the show is an all- you-can-eat buffet whose menu varies from night to night. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and curtain is at 7:30 p.m. To make reservations, call the Sea Horse at 227-7451. Clohessy resides on Maryland's Eastern Shore with her hus- band, John, and her son, Ryan, and she began painting as a hobby almost ten years ago. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to take classes from both master artists and cer- tified artists and Clohessy is a member of the National Soci- ety of Tole and Decorative Painters. She enjoys sharing her craft and giving classes to beginner and intermediate level painters.
