The Pasta Bowl, located in the Midway Shopping Center, serves lunch and dinner. "s Pasta Bowl is revered for affordable cuisine, inviting setting An establishment created by Sussex County peo- ple for Sussex County people, the Pasta Bowl Italian Bistro opened its doors in the Midway Shopping Center in October 1997. Owned by Roadhouse Steak Joint and Roadsters proprietors Cindy and Pete Townsend, the Pasta Bowl has a casual, inviting atmosphere with seating in the dining area or bar. General Manager Dan Kimmel oversees the day- to-day operation of the Pasta Bowl. He said the restaurant's success is a result of local support. "Our customers take care of us," he said. "We have a lot of good, regular customers who keep coming back. That tells us we must be doing some- thing right." Headed by chef Steven Becker, the restaurant's kitchen staff creates delicious dishes for lunch and dinner. For lunch, fast, convenient cuisine is avail- able for dinein or carryout. The lunch menu, sewed Monday to Friday from 11 a.m to 2 p.m., includes entr6es, homemade Italian sandwiches (served with a side of capelhni or salad) and a daily fresh sheet of lunch specials. Specials, priced affordably between $5-$6, include a half order of cheese lasagna, a small order of spaghetti, vegetable manicotti in house red sauce and stuffed eggplant. Each are sewed with a cup of soup (black bean minestrone, traditional wedding soup or sweet Vidalia onion with cognac) or a small side salad. For dinner, the Pasta Bowl is an affordable alter- native to the ordinary. Atmosphere and service have received high marks from locals, said Kimmel and the staff alms to maintain its high standard. Appetizers on the dinner menu include fried cheese ravioli served with marinara dipping sauce and brushetta topped with shredded romano cheese. The establishment's specialty is eggplant stuffed with imported ham and Swiss cheese topped with tomato sauce and cheese. Depending on your appetite, either the sandwich or the entree portion of this specialty will fill the bill. Pasta Bowl's Family Feast is ideal for budget conscious families. The pasta dinner feeds four and includes salad, meatballs and cheese-garlic bread for just $25. The feast includes your choice of any one pasta with house red sauce. Six different types of pastas and eight different varieties of sauces grace the Pasta Bowl menu. From the traditional red sauce to the Oscar-style (fresh asparagus tips, jumbo lump crabmeat and sundried tomatoes sauteed in a white wine cream sauce), you'll want to return again in order to sam- ple each one. The Pasta Bowl offers an extensive whie selec- tion, including 32 by the glass. Be sure to ask your server about dessert selections, which could include cannoli cake and a traditional timmisu.
