54 - CAPE GAZETTE - Friday, April 11 - Monday, April 14, 2008 Restaurants prepare for Restaurant Week More than a dozen restaurants have signed on to participate in Restaurant Week, Sunday through Saturday, May 4-i0, in downtown Rehoboth Beach, with more getting on board on every day. "Our restaurants have so much to offer and we're delighted to put them in the spotlight for an organized restaurant week like so many cities do," said Kathy McGuiness, Rehoboth Beach Main Street promotion chairwoman. "It helps make spring at the beach very special." Rehoboth Beach Main Street Inc. is sponsoring this gourmet event that will feature Rehoboth's restaurants serving three-course prix-fixe din- ners, with many offering wine, beer or sake pairings for an additional cost, plus entertainment and other events. Restaurants will be offering $30.08 or $20.08 prix-fixe menus. Delaware commissioners appointed to international racing organization posts Several members of Delaware commissions were apIointed to key national positions during the recent annual meeting of the Association of Racing Commissioners International: • Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission Chairman Bernard J. Daney, was re-elected to the Association of Racing Commissioners International board as former national chairman of the trade organization. • Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission (DTRC) Commissioner W. Duncan 15atterson was re-elected as a board member of Region 8 and also appointed chairman of the Drug Testing Standards and Practices Committee (DTSP). • John E Wayne, DTRC execu- tive director was reappointed as the DTSP vice chairman. DTSP oversees the quality assurance of testing laboratories to ensure compliance with foren- sic testing techniques and drug detection. Wayne was also reappointed as chairman of the License Review Committee of the National Racing Compact that issues national licenses to eligible candidates. • Hugh J. Gallagher, administra- tor of the Delaware Harness Racing Commission, was reap- pointed to the position of vice chairman of the Model Rules Committee that steers the direc- tion of the pari-mutuel industry at large toward global uniformity.
