I- 66 - CAPE GAZETTE - Friday, April 11 - Monday, April 14, 2008 Coastal-Dance Academy to host spaghetti dinner April 18 Coastal Dance Academy's com- petition dance team will host its sixth annual spaghetti dinner from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, April 18, at Eagle's Nest Fellowship Church in Milton. The dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs by La Rosa Negra chef Bob Cirelli; salad donated by Nicola's and bread, drinks and desserts by local businesses. Coastal Dance Academy's jun- ior and teen competition students wilt perform their national rou- tines with more than 25 silent auc- tion prizes from Bella Luna, Monograms Unlimited, Quiet Storm, Hula Sue, Peppers, Movies at Midway, Big Fish Grill and South Moon Under, to name a few. "In the past years, we have had a wonderful turnout and great sup- port from the community and local businesses," said Terri Morris, director. "Last year, we had more than 300 people attend the dinner and the girls raised approximately $2,500 toward their trip to nation- alS." Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for children and free for kids four and under. Tickets will be sold at the door. During the past five years, the group has had the opportunity to dance under some of the top-name choreogra- phers in the country, performed on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lien and at Walt Disney World in Florida, and qualified for numer- ous national championships. Coastal Dance has made it to nationals for a fifth consecutive year. Its competition team includes 20 young dancers between the ages of 7 and 16 who take classes three times a week in hip-hop, jazz, tap, ballet, pointe and ballroom. In 2006 and 2007, Coastal Dance Academy placed second at the National Championships in Florida. This year, the girls will perform hip- hop, jazz, tap and ballet routines at the National Finals July 7-11 in Orlando, Fla. Outstanding Teen Pageant tickets available The 2008 Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen Pageant will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 20, in the Centre for the Performing Arts at Sussex Central High School, Georgetown. The Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen is the sister pageant to the Miss Delaware Scholarship Pageant, and the pageants are affiliates of the Miss.America's Outstanding Teen and Miss America organiza- tions respectively. The winner will represent Delaware at the 2009 Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant, August 2008 in Orlando, Fla. The theme of the pageant this year is Diamond Girls and will feature pop music from a remix of Marilyn Monroe's classic song, "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" through pop sensation Jennifer Lopez. The pageant will feature Chelsea Betts, Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen 2007 and win- ner of a Preliminary Talent Award at Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2008, and the sixteen 2008 Miss Delaware's Outstanding Teen contestants. Betts will also crown her successor. Special guests include Brittany Dempsey, Miss Delaware 2007; Jodi Graham Parker, Miss Delaware 1981 and pageant emcee. The pageant is produced and directed by Alison White, Miss Delaware 1997, and choreo- graphed by Michelle Bennett Buglio, Miss New Castle County 2005. The 16 contestants, hailing from throughout the state, are between the ages of 13 and 17 and will compete in the areas of pri- vate interview, talent presentation, evening gown, on-stage question and physical fithess.
