Ron Baunchalk, 32, 31:36 CAPE BOYS TRACK AND FIELD - The Vikings of Cape dominated the Raiders of Woodbridge last Tuesday after- noon, April 8, by a lopsided score The annual Jill Joseph Sunshine 5K was held last Saturday under cloudy skies in Milton with a small crowd of walkers ind runners getting together for fitness and honoring the late Jill Joseph. Jill, a Milton and Cape girl, passed away at age 24 from heart problems and this year's proceeds will again go toward Habitat For Humanity. "This is the second year we have dedicated the proceeds to Habitat For Humanity and we think it is a worthwhile charity to give to in my sister's name," said sister Jen Hochrein. Several young runners showed up for theevent with many partic- ipating in the walk and a handful challenging themselves in the 5K run. Breck Vanderwende captured the overall title in a time of 17:54, while Lisa Prater won the female title in a time of 22i06. Dave Sanls won the male masters title in 21:46, while Angela Swarm won the female masters title in 23:03. Congratulations to first-time racers Keegan Pando, 8, Ben Conrad, 9, Bradley White, 8, and Karalyn Joseph, who made it to the finish line still with smiles on their faces. Jack Ashby, 8, 23:09; 2. of 123-20 in Lewes. The Vikings won all four relays and every individual event outside of the shot put to highlight the action. Isaiah Brisco was the meet high scorer with 16.25 points winning the ll0m high hurdles in 15.2, 300m intermediate hurdles in 40.3, the high jump in 6-0 and ran a leg of the winning 16oo-meter relay team. Stephan Hixon won the 100 meters in 11.6 and the 200 meters in 24.5, while Brett Morris won the 1600-meter run in 4:49 and the 800 meters in 2:08.7. Rondy Osario won the 400 meters in 56.5, while Jacob Fowler won the 3200-meter run in 12:49. Dominique Thomas won the long jump in 19-7, while Chris McGlaughlin won the pole vault in 8-6. Anthony Fountain won the triple jump in 41-1, while James Harmon won the discus in 111-1. "We are just trying to move people into different events and see where we are strong and where we need to work on some things," said coach Charlie Pollard. "We have a small, yet very talented and committed team this year. I expect big things from them." Lady Vikings run past Woodbridge In week two of the Henlopen Conference dual meet season, the Cape gifts battled both the Wind and cold (44 degrees) to defeat Woodbridge 102-17. Cape won 15 of 18 events and was led by Rebecca Pepper with 15 points. Pepper won the 1600- meter run (5:36), the 800 meters (2:40) and the triple jump (30-6). Other multiple event winners included senior Cierra Seth win- ning the 100m dash (13.3) and the shot put (29-2). Savonne Seth captured both hurdle events - the loom hurdles (17.3) and the 3OOm low hurdles (54.1). Winning other events were Andrea Wells in the long jump (15-3), and Hannah Pepper in the 4OOm dash (1:07) Arvantis Smith cleared 4-6 to win the high jump event, while Shellie Pearsall won the 2OOm dash (27.3). Tiarra Howell won the pole vault (7-6), while Shanika Evans won the discus with a toss of 77- 0. Cape also won two relays with Christina MacDonald and Wells teaming with the Seth sisters to run 52.0 in the 4oo-meter relay and Anastasia Maker, Jasmine Frison, Markwaun Shappard and Montoz Hall teaming up to win the 1600-meter relay.
