CAPE GAZETI, Friday, April 13 -April 19, 2001 - 51 Jim Cresson photos Person is Lewes Middle's top teacher Lewes Middle School Teacher of the Year Doris Person, flanked by friends Aleatha Short and the Rev. George Ed- wards, was given bouquets of flowers, cards and money from the Lewes Parent-Teacher Organization and her colleagues at school. "Teaching is what I love doing, and Lewes Middle School is a great place to teach," Person said. "It's really a great honor to be recognized by my peers." Person will attend the annual National Middle Schools Conference later this year. Below, Person receives congratulations from Principal Marge Peck during Doris Person Day, Wednesday, April 4. Peck described Person as a "wonderful mentor" as seventh grade language arts teacher and yearbook advisor. Person, who received degrees from North Carolina A&T and Ohio State University, has been teaching at Lewes Middle School since 1991.
