52 FRIDAY, APRIL 16 - MONDAY, APRIL 19, 2010 CAPE LIFE Cape Gazette Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge ] seeks summer 000rkers viduals interested in participat- ing in the National Youth Con- servation Corps work program. Anyone with an interest in the outdoors and natural resources who doesn't mind bugs and hard work may be eligible. The pur- pose of the program is to further the development and mainte- nance of the natural resources of the United States by America's youth, and to prepare them for the ultimate responsibility of maintaining and managing these resources for the future. This year's group will be in- volved in trail maintenance, landscaping, controlling invasive species, maintaining boundaries, filing, copying, answering phones and a variety of other proiects that contribute to the mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The work is planned, directed and executed in such a way as to give the enrollees an understand- ing of their tasks and how to do them, their part in the overall management plan and how their work contributes to the enhance- dential summer pro from mid-June thro gust. E Prime Hook Refuge will be ac- cepting applications I for two en- rollee positions. Erollees in- clude young men nd women who must be at 15 years of of the program. Enrollees will be required to work a 40-hour week for a total of eight weeks. En- rollees will receive $7.25 per hour, including paid federal holi- days. If under the age of 18, enrollees must have a parent or guardian signature of approval. Require- ments for the position include an interest in outdoor work and the ability to use common hand tools and perform arduous physical la- bor. All applicants must be citizens of the United States, its territo- : financing. Offer Valid thru 4/17 ries, possessions or trust territo- ries. Applicants must possess a Social Security card and have a work permit (if required) before the first working day of the YCC program and must possess trans- portation to the work site. All applicants are eligible for em- ployment without regard to so- cioeconomic, racial or ethnic backgrounds. Applications must be received or postmarked by Friday, April 30.
