' Groom UM ' Church collects supplies for Bear Hugs for Babies The United Methodist Women of Groome Church held a baby shower in March, for the local charity Bear Hugs For Babies, which has been in operation since April 2001. It started out with a small group of people col- lecting teddy bears for newborns and delivering them to the local hospitals. It now provides more than 300 baskets a year for new- borns in lower Delaware. The baskets contain all the es- sentials a newborn would need in the first few weeks of life. The baskets also include infant care literature for the parents or guardians and a teddy bear. A book is also included in each bas- ket because Bear Hugs for Babies supports reading to newborns.
