30 FRIDAY, APRIL 19- MONDAY, APRIL 22, 2013 NEWS Cape Gazette Obituaries )) W. Ray Masten services set for April 22 W. Ray Masten, 87, of Re- hoboth Beach and Millsboro, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center after suffering a stroke. He was born May 5, 1925, at Masten's Corner, Harrington, son of the late Joseph (Jody) A. Masten and Arta Baker Masten. Ray gradu= ated from Harrington High School in 1943. He served in the Army and lat- er received his A.A. degree in accounting W. Ray Mastenfrom Gold- ey-Beacom Business College. He had a long career in banking with Farmers Bank of the state of Delaware and other local hanks. He was a director of the Delaware State Fair from 1971 until his death. He was a past president of the Rehoboth Chamber of Com- merce and a member of both the Dewey Beach and Mills- boro Lions Clubs. Ray was a member of Epworth Methodist Church for over 50 years, but also attended Westminster Presbyte- rian Church. Ray was a longtime member of the Sussex Pines Country Club and an avid golfer. Ray had his second hole-in-one last year. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Mille Wilkens Masten, and his two sis- ters, Phyllis Masten Marvel and Josephine Masten Danna. He is survived by his son, Ronald B. Masten; his two nieces; two nephews; his longtime friend and loving companion, Midge Reed and her family. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 22, at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Road in Rehoboth Beach. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the fam- ily suggests contributions to the charity of your choice. Ar- rangements by Melson Funeral Services. Annette E. Holston, loved collecting Annette Emily Holston of Mil- ton passed away in the loving care of her family Monday, April 15, 2013, at home. She was 34 years old. Born in Milford Dec. 31, 1978, she was the daughter of Ralph W Jr. and Tanya Mitchell Holston. Annette was a very caring person who loved the Lord with all her heart and had a special way with caring for and nurtur- ing children. She was talented at making balloon animals, and catered to the kids at church. She was active in Sunday school and made sure at all holidays that she had gift bags so each child received a gift. She loved her job as a greeter at Walmart where she worked for nine years, and loved help- ing people find the things they needed. She loved collecting things, and was a very struc- tured and decisive person. In spite of a long illness, she never complained. She was a mem- ber of The Journey, a Wes- leyan Church in Millsboro. In addition to her parents, ,r: she is survived by her sister, Natalie Ann Holston Cul- Annette Holston len and her husband J.P. of Laurel; maternal grandmother, Elsie Mitchell; nieces: Sarah Cul- len and Rebekah Cullen, and a nephew: Isaac Cullen. She also leaves behind her dear friend Susan Schwartz; and many ex- tended family members and friends. She was preceded by her paternal grandparents: Ralph W Sr. and Sallie Ruby Holston; by her maternal grandfather, Joshua B. Mitchell; and her cousin: Sa- brina L. Rickards. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 19, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. Friends may also call from noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 20, with the funeral beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Millsboro Cemetery. The Rev. Buchanan, history buff William Wesley Buchanan, 66, of Lewes, passed away at home in the arms of his loving wife Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Born Dec. 9, 1946, in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Andrew Ham- ilton Buchanan Jr. and Elizabeth West Buchanan. He was a con- sultant, having retired from the DuPont Chemical Company after a career of 33 years. He was a member of the Lewes Rehoboth Moose Lodge 646 and a former member of the Wacky Club as- sociated with the Little Sisters of the Poor. He loved baseball and sports and was a history buff. He loved Westerns, and in his conduct he always had to be right, and usually was! He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Caro- lyn E. Jenney Buchanan, and his children: Cheryl Hoff- man and her W.W. Buchanan husband Mark of Nashville, Tenn.; Wayne Burroughs and his wife Stacey of Millsboro; Clinton Burroughs Jr. of Lewes; James Burroughs and his wife LiAnn of Georgetown; Linda Buchanan of Middletown; and Sharon Urban and husband Andrew of Bear. He is also survived by his brothers: Andrew Buchanan III and wife Barbara of Lewes; and David Buchanan and wife Carol of Nottingham, Pa. In addition, he has 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends across the state.
