28 - CAPE GAZETI, Friday, April 21 - April 27, 1995 VFW Post 7447 donates funds to C High band and chorus trip to Washington, D. C on May 22 The Cape Henlopen High School Music Boosters recently re- ceived a check in the amount of $500 from VFW Post 7447, Re- hoboth Beach. A portion of the money will be used to help the band and chorus students pay for their trip to Washington, D.C., where they will per- form at the Navy Memorial on Monday, May 22 and at the Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday, May 23. The Cape High Band and Chorus was honored to receive an invi- tation from the mayor of Washington, D.C. and the Department of Defense to represent the state in the "World Liberation Celebration" commemorating the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. According to Barry Eli, band director, the balance of the funds will add VFW Post 7447 to the list of donors who helped-to pur- chase an equipment trailer for the band and chorus earlier in the school year, and whose continuing support will help fund various activities and purchases for the band and chorus in years to come. Resort students named to WCS Headmaster's List Dr. Barry W. Tull, Headmaster of Worcester Country School in Berlin, Md., has announced the students named to the Headmas- ter's Academic List for the third school term. Students on the Aca- demic List must achieve an aver- age of 93 or above in their major subjects and may not have a grade lower than 76 in any special sub- jects. Resort area students recognized include Marguerite K. McDonald of Rehoboth Beach, eighth grade; N. Tenley Davidson of Lewes, ninth grade; Alyson G. Urian of Dewey Beach, ninth grade; Kelly C. Palekar of Milton, honorable mention, ninth grade; and Sadaf Saberi of Harbeson, honorable mention, 12th grade. Kristen Seal photo Blossom visits Rehoboth students Anne Fitzgerald from the Delaware Department of Agricul- ture and Blossom the "Treeture Creature" visited Rehoboth Elementary School first, second and third graders on Mon- day, April 10. Fitzgerald and Blossom told a story to the stu- dents in celebration of both Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 28) about the importance of trees on the environ- ment. The students were also given the opportunity to ask questions about tree life cycles and how trees benefit hu- mankind.
