44 - CAPE GAZE'UrE, Friday, April 25- May I, 1997 Vernon's Logo Motive chugs to new Lewes site By Jen Ellingsworth Local artist Geoff Vernon has taken over the reins of the former Lewes Custom Screen Printing, located at 1550 Savannah Road at Wescoats Corner, and is operating the business as Logo Motive, his graphic design and custom screen- printing business. Vernon, who has an extensive background in the graphic arts and design field, recently announced that he bought the business from Lewes Printing's owner Claude Smarrelli. Smarrelli, who still owns and operates the adjacent Lewes Printing operation, decided to sell the screenprinting division to pursue other interests. Vernon, who is also a freelance writer and cartoonist, said for the past few years he has been operat- ing Logo Motive primarily as a design service. He's no novice to screenprinting, having operated the screenprinting firm Designs on You in Rehoboth Beach for 10 years. "I do full service design and art work," he said. "Usually in conjunction with the screen-print- ing of shirts and hats." Though a great portion of his work deals with the printing of staff shirts for area establish- ments, Vernon said he is not limit- ed to that type of production. He said he also designs logos and prints T-shirts for charter fishing anda variety of operations. All T- shirts are printed on high quality, American-made materials, said Vernon, and the cost per printed shirt starts at $5.
